If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and need to be tested for COVID-19 using a lab-based polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, go to your local state health department's website for COVID-19 testing options. In Minnesota, visit the Minnesota Department of Health website

If you cannot schedule an appointment to be tested for COVID-19 in a timely manner, you should not go to the emergency department to get a COVID-19 test. Emergency departments are for patients with life-threatening health care needs. Instead, be patient and continue to check testing options to schedule the next available testing appointment near you.

You can also go to your Patient Online Services account and use the Check Symptoms assessment tool to schedule an appointment at a Mayo Clinic location near you. At-home COVID-19 test kits can also be purchased at a local pharmacy or supplier if you are positive for COVID-19.

As always, follow the proper COVID-19 quarantine and isolation guidelines as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention if you or someone around you is positive for COVID-19.
